A Stirrup-Bar RFQ Checklist: Confirm the Hole Pattern Before Ordering

A three-hole stirrup bar can look similar to another part while its mounting pattern or dimensions differ. Before requesting a replacement or planning a new saddle-hardware order, give each supplier the same drawing and measurement points so the responses can be compared accurately.

This buyer checklist uses RELIA Metalparts Model 8060LR as a catalog example. Its current product page lists stainless steel, silver color and a 2-inch size. The listing does not provide a complete engineering drawing or every mounting dimension. Confirm the exact hole layout and assembly requirements with the supplier before ordering.

This article covers purchasing information only. It does not provide installation, riding-safety or load-rating advice. Have the saddle designer or other qualified technical professional assess compatibility and any load requirements for the complete assembly.

1. Identify the reference part and drawing

Include the product model, an official product-page link, and the drawing or sample that defines the part you need. Record the drawing revision and date. If you are replacing a component, label the reference sample and show which face and direction appear in each photograph. A product name or a 2-inch size label alone does not establish that two mounting parts are interchangeable.

Review the RELIA Model 8060LR listing. Ask the supplier to confirm which dimensions apply to the selected version and whether the drawing matches the current catalogue item.

2. Specify the hole pattern with measurement points

For a three-hole layout, state the center-to-center distance between each pair of holes and identify how each distance is measured. Include the hole diameter, distance from the hole centers to the ends and edges, and any countersink, recess or slot requirement shown on your drawing. Provide units for every measurement and mark critical dimensions clearly.

Also state the overall length, width and thickness that your assembly requires. If a measurement is missing from the published listing, mark it as “supplier confirmation required” rather than estimating it from a product photograph. Share the mating plate or saddle-hardware drawing when the interface determines fit.

3. Confirm material and finish for the quoted version

Model 8060LR is listed as stainless steel with a silver appearance. If your specification requires a particular stainless grade, surface finish, corrosion test, declaration or other document, name the exact requirement and ask what evidence is available for the item being quoted. Do not infer a grade or performance claim from the general material description or appearance.

4. Make quantity, unit and packing clear

State whether quantity means individual bars, pairs, sets or cartons. Break out the quantities by model and finish if you are comparing more than one option. Specify any individual wrapping, labels, barcode, carton marks or mixed-carton requirements. If the unit or packing format is not stated in the listing, ask the supplier to confirm it in the quotation.

5. Include the commercial details needed for a useful quote

Give the destination country and city or port, requested delivery term if your purchasing process uses one, target dispatch window and any required documents. Ask the supplier to confirm current price, minimum quantity, availability, sample arrangements, production timing and freight for the exact configuration and destination. These terms can vary by order and must be confirmed for your request.
